For years I've tried to manage my hip, knee, and back pain and dysfunction, saw probably over 50 providers in nyc, but finally found my most success with Dr David Chu and his acupuncture. Dr Chu has some of the best bedside manner and knowledge I've seen in orthopedics and really wants to understand the whole picture before giving treatment, which is so important. To me, an MD who administers acupuncture shows the flexibility, scope, and belief to try all conservative measures to manage chronic pain. After all the sessions I've had, I've built up such a great doctor-patient trust that I needed and really know how to approach my weeks to minimize my pain. I do not exaggerate when I say meeting Dr Chu changed my life, considering how I couldn't even leave the house before.. An obvious 5 star endorsement from me. ...read less

I first went to NY Spine & Rehab in 2016 after years of suffering from neck and lower back pain. Prior to going to NYSR I saw several doctors and did rounds of PT many times. I was also seeing a C...read morehiropractor for adjustments as well as PT. I even hired a personal trainer at my gym who specialized in individuals who were suffering from injuries and pain. After going through all these previous treatments for several years I found my pain was only getting worse. I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Chu for acupuncture and while I was there we discussed my symptoms and prior treatments and he recommended I get an MRI and EMGs. I found out that I had herniated disks and that they were affecting my nerves as well. I finally had a clear answer to the cause of my chronic pain and was finally able to start a treatment plan that really addressed my condition and related symptoms. It was a huge relief to finally have some hope of improvement in my pain. If Dr. Chu would not have been as through as he was and taken the time to understand my symptoms and my prior treatments it could have possibly taken another few years of seeing different doctors and treatments to have a correct diagnosis. I have continued to see Dr. Chu since than and am very happy with the care I receive. I have undergone several in-office procedures, and Dr. Mehta and his team always perform top notch procedures, genuinely care about your comfort before during and after each procedure, and have excellent bedside manners. Kim has been amazing with help with large volumes of paperwork that I have needed for my employer and disability insurance carrier while I have been out on medical leave. She also has been excellent providing additional documents needed by my legal counsel as we navigate the complicated process of appeals and litigation with my disability insurance carrier to receive my compensation benefits while on medical leave. The entire team there are really amazing and I would highly recommend NYSR for anyone dealing with pain issues. ...read less

I was able to resume my biweekly acupuncture appointments in mid-June and felt comfortable with the precautions and the overall conditions of the office and examining rooms. She is always gentle and explains everything carefully to make sure I understand and am okay with all of it. I then started physical therapy with Raine, who has been wonderful! She has an instinct for what is causing pain and how to fix it. Every single person at NY Spine is extremely kind and professional, and great at what they do. I had a question about a letter I got from my insurance company, and the NY Spine team helped me figure it out without me having to spend hours on hold with the insurance company. I feel so much better now than I did a few months ago, and Dr. Dwyer, Raine, & team are also making sure that I have the tools and information I will need to stay well after I'm finished with my regular visits so I don't end up back in the same boat. I diligently did what I was instructed to do at physical therapy and continued these exercises and stretches daily. This is what helped repair my sciatic nerve pain to become non-existent. For anyone who has had it, you know what a relief it is to feel normal again. I also increased my tumeric and ginger consumption because it's supposed to be good for you. The staff there was very supportive of my recovery and finishing pt was bitter sweet when I left. They repeatedly asked me what was working and what wasn't and built upon what was working. If you are willing to put in the work yourself and not only do the exercises at physical therapy you will get better relatively quickly, depending on your condition of course.
